2018 Girls’ Volleyball Preview

This 2018 season, the Girls’ Varsity Volleyball team is set to play tough competition and rivals.

This year, with key players like senior outside hitter Megan Hoy, senior middle blockers Erin Kenney and Brooke Meyers, senior defensive specialist Radhika Patel, Junior right side McKenna Reiswig, junior setter Olivia Simon, and Sophomore Madison Reagan, the Bobcats have big plans for their team.

Fresh faces include juniors Sarah Markland, Ellie Smith, Julianna Harden, Amber Brown, and freshmen MaKenzie Reagan and Lexi Couch, who will also be huge contributors to this year’s team.

“This is our year,” says Senior Captain Megan Hoy. “If we work hard in practice and do well in games, this could be our opportunity to build some reputation and show how good of a team we really are.”

In the preseason, the team played in a scrimmage with Hereford High School, beating the Bulls 3-0. The Bobcats also played in a tri-match at Dulaney High School, where score was not kept. Lastly, the Bobcats played their first regular season game on August 31, against Perry Hall High School. Bel Air swept the gators with a score of 3-0.

“I’m super excited to see where this season takes us. We played so well as a team last year and had a fantastic season, but we can always do better, and we plan on doing better this year. We all expect big things this season, but I think we can play up to the expectations,” says Senior Captain Erin Kenney.

Last year, the Bobcats ended their season going undefeated in the Susquehanna conference, and having an overall record of 14-3. This season, the goal for the players this year is to “do better than last year,” “win UCBAC’s,” and “get farther in playoffs than last year.”

“So far, we’ve had a great season, and going undefeated makes us so proud. But we need to keep working hard and focus on our upcoming games, where they’ll become more challenging,” says Sophomore Maddie Reagan.

The Bobcats have a challenging schedule this year where they’ll be playing rivals, and teams who have played in state championship games. Come out this season and support your Varsity Girls’ Volleyball team!
