On Friday, April 13, 2018, the Bel Air Varsity Softball team played on their home field against the C. Milton Wright Mustangs. The Bobcats fell short with a score of 5-2.

The Bobcats knew they would have to play a perfect game to beat the defending 3A State Champions to capture this win. Senior, Amanda Criss pitched for the Bobcats and gave up eight hits and five runs. Criss also struck out seven batters.

At the plate, Sophomore, Maddie Bosley singled in the first inning, scoring the first run of the game. Freshman, Abby Bannan went 3-4 at the plate to help the Bobcats. The Bobcats held their lead until the fifth inning, where the Mustangs scored their first run.

“I think we could’ve done some things better that would’ve helped us in this game but we also did some good things, and we can work on these little things in future practices,” says Sophomore outfielder, Maddie Bosley.

Then, on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, the Bobcats traveled to Rising Sun High School to play the Tigers. The Bobcats fell early in the game and couldn’t come back, ultimately losing with a score of 4-2.

Senior, Amanda Criss pitched for the Bobcats, where she struck out five and gave up six hits. At the plate, Freshman, Emma Sanza led the Bobcats in hits, going 2-3. In totality, the Bobcats put up seven hits, but it wasn’t enough to defeat the Tigers.

“I feel like we could’ve won this game, but some things just didn’t go our way, but I think we’ll be ready for them come next time,” says Senior pitcher, Amanda Criss.
