Bel Air Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse went 6-1 for the League standings, an overall record of 15-4-2, and a section standing of 8-2-1, during the 2016-17 school year. They also won the State Championship at Stevenson University with a score of 10-9 with a last minute goal by Julia Henry.

This year, the team will be playing 14 games throughout the regular season and hopefully will play in many more and bring back another State Championship. The team has a tough schedule ahead of them, playing Episcopal Academy, Perry Hall, and Howard in their first three games.

“I’m really excited for the season with the way we looked at the tournament. I feel like this season looks very promising. It’s nice being 2017 State Champs, but it put a huge target on our backs that I definitely think we’re ready to take on!” says Sophomore, Ava Goeller, playing her 2nd year on varsity.

The team has a lot of returning players and many new people on the team. This year they will improve so much from last year. Although most of the girls are already committed, they all have room to grow and improve to become the best player possible.

“We have a lot of returning players on this team, but we also have a lot of new talent coming in too. I believe they will contribute greatly to this season. We will all continue to grow throughout this season, and I cannot wait to see what we accomplish!” says Senior, Julia Henry.

The Varsity team this year looks like a great team so far. They will not give up and they always give 110% no matter what. They play great and work very well with each other. The Varsity girls set a great example to the girls on JV, and help them strive to the best of their ability. Come out and support your state champs during their defending season!
