Bel Air Finds Success at First Track Meet of Season

On Tuesday, March 27, 2018, members of the Bel Air High School Track team competed in the Track Meet at Harford Tech High School as their first meet of the season.

Junior, Kurt Nolasco placed 3rd in the men’s 100 meter with a time of 11.5 seconds and placed 2nd in the men’s 200 run with a time of 24.6 seconds. Freshman, Caitlyn Graney placed 9th in the women’s 100- meter run with a time of 14.3 seconds. In the men’s 400-meter dash, Brenton Duvall placed 1st with a time of 55.3 seconds. During the women’s 400-meter dash, Paige Blaker placed 4th. In the men’s 800-meter dash, Ethan Gray placed 1st with a time of 2:17. Faith Loftus placed 2nd in the women’s 800-meter dash with a time of 2:42. Andrew Plowman and Riley McDermott both placed 1st in the men and women 1600-meter dash. Kieran McDermott and Rebekah Cross both placed 1st in the men and women 3200-meter dash.

In the 110 meter hurdles for men, Owen Sparr came in 3rd with a time of 20.7 seconds. In the women’s 110 meter hurdle, Lydia Cross placed 3rd with a time of 17.6 seconds. Stephen Cullinan placed 2nd in the men’s 300 meter hurdle. In the women’s 300 meter hurdle, Lydia Cross placed 3rd.  Bryson Foye placed 5th in the men’s 300 meter hurdle.

“Harford Tech won UCBACS last year. After beating them, I feel that were going to do pretty great this season!” said Bryson Foye, a Bel Air Track runner.

During the men’s 4×100 relay, Bel Air placed 3rd. For the women’s 4×100 relay, Bel Air placed 3rd. in the women’s 4×200 relay, Bel Air placed 4th. Bel air placed 1st in the men 4×400 relay. During the women’s 4×400 relay, Bel Air placed 2nd for both men and women’s 4×800 relay, Bel Air placed 1st. For the men’s shot put, Jake Rolocut placed 1st. For the women’s shot put, Lillian Smith placed 3rd. Lillian Smith also placed 5th in the women’s discus. For the men’s discus Mason Wooten placed 3rd. for the men’s high jump, Stephen Cullinan placed 2nd.

“Having just finished our first meet of the year, Bel Air has reassured my thoughts of having another good season to come!” said Junior, Jake Rolocut.

Everyone come support the Bel Air High School Track Team as they compete in their next meet on April 5th 2018 at Bel Air High School! The first event starts at 3:30pm.
