The Bel Air High School Tennis team started their 2017-2018 spring season on March 1, 2017. The BAHS tennis courts will be occupied every day this spring as the team is working hard to have a great season.

This year, there is an entirely new team dynamic. The team has lost multiple Senior players as of last season such as Jacob Rannie, Yasmine Saikali, Bella Duran and Alli Tran, but has gained many new fresh faces from different grade levels who will contribute to the legacy last season left behind.

For the freshmen, some new players are Chloe Tran, Vivek Raj and Mandy Tran. The only new addition from the tenth grade is Chris Loi, after coming off a season with the Junior Varsity last year. In the Junior class, there is a mix of returning and new players such as Dhara Patel, Jada Lewis, Kirsten Tran, Jessica Pitzer, Kit Lombard and more! The only senior player this year is another returner, Sahil Shah.

“I am really excited for this season to start. We have a very strong season so far and are continuing to improve through practice,” said Varsity player, Dhara Patel.

Last year, the Varsity team had a record of 2-9 and the Junior Varsity had a record of 7-9. Both teams this year are practicing very hard to improve from last year.

“Both teams look really solid this year. JV has a strong team dynamic and Varsity is doing well so far through all of their practices and I’m really excited to see what we can do,” said Junior Varsity player, Sarah Van Ruiten.

The tennis teams this year are off to a great start to their season. The first match is away on Friiday April 6, 2018 against Fallston. The match starts at 3:30 pm. Be there to support your school and team. Go Bobcats!
