Girls’ Basketball Experience Triumph and defeat in Playoffs

On Friday, February 23, 2018, the Varsity Girls’ Basketball team played at their home court against the Patapsco Pirates. The Bobcats ultimately won the game with a score of 64-23.

This was the section quarter final game, so the winner would advance to the section semifinals to play the winner of Aberdeen and Edgewood. The Lady’ Cats’ played a great game and executed all their plays very well.

Leaders for the Bobcats include senior Julia Henry with 14 points and 4 rebounds, Junior Grace Wehland with 10 points and 6 steals, Senior Gabi Hall with 8 points and 6 steals, Sophomore Olivia Simon with 8 points and 4 rebounds, and Sophomore Maggi Hall with 5 points and 4 steals.

“This was a great first game for us,” says Senior Captain Julia Henry. “The teams are only going to get better at this point so we really have to buckle down and play hard.”

Then, on Tuesday, February 27, the Bobcats traveled to Aberdeen High School to play the Eagles. The Bobcats fell short to the Eagles with a score of 56-40.

Leaders include sophomore McKenna Reiswig with 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks, senior Julia Henry with 8 points 4 rebounds and 2 steals, senior Gabi Hall with 1 point, 8 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 block, and sophomore Maggi Hall with 6 points and 4 rebounds.

“What we had this season was incredible. We made so many memories and played a lot of good games. I’m going to miss everyone so much, but I’m glad I was able to play for such a good school,” says Senior Elizabeth Hillman.

The Varsity Girls’ Basketball team ended their season with a record of 12-11. The team will lose 5 seniors, but will be gaining new, talented players. Be sure to congratulate your Girls’ Basketball team for such a successful season. See you next year!
