On Tuesday February 20, 2018, members of Bel Air’s Indoor Track team competed at the MPSSAA 3A State Championships at the PG Sportsplex, MD against 29 other teams.

Bel Air placed 19th for Men’s, tied with James M. Bennett and Digital Harbor. The Women’s team placed 21st, tied with Baltimore City College and Baltimore Polytechnic Institute.

Brenton Duvall competed in the 500 Meters and placed 9^th with a time of 1:10.89, Ava Goeller competed in the 800 Meters and placed 4^th with a personal record time of 2:27.79.

“I am really proud of the team and I can’t believe how far we’ve come. I would’ve never thought that I’d be 4th in the state for 3A with this being my first year of track. Everyone worked their hardest and gave it their all!” says Ava Goeller.

Caleb Zylka placed 4^th for the 3200 Meter race with a time of 10:11.08. Brenton Duvall, Andrew Plowman, Nick Hammond, and Ethan Gray all competed in the 4×800 Relay Race and placed 4th with a time of 8:27.84.

“It was an awesome experience to be out there competing at such a big meet. The team did great for the small numbers we had and 4th place is definitely a good result in my eyes for the 3200,” says Caleb Zylka.

Now that the winter season is over, make sure to come out and support the Spring Track team once the season gets started!
