Bel Air Cheerleading Placed 3rd at Westminster

On Saturday January 20, 2018, the Bel Air Cheerleading teams competed at the Westminster High School Cheerleading Invitational.

The Westminster Invitational was Junior Varsity’s second competition of the winter season and was Varsity’s first competition of the winter season. The competition started at 3 pm and the Bel Air Junior Varsity Cheerleaders hit the mat at 3:32 pm. The Varsity cheerleaders hit the mat at 5 pm.

The Junior Varsity cheerleaders placed 2nd out of 6 teams. The Junior Varsity teams consisted of Westminster, Catonsville, South River, Bel Air, Arundel, and Kent Island. The top three Junior Varsity teams were Kent Island, Bel Air, and Arundel. Bel air Varsity placed third, with the top three Varsity teams being Kent Island, Arundel and Bel Air.

“I love these girls so much. I am so glad I decided to try out for cheer. It’s been an amazing experience and I am so grateful for all of the girls on this team.” Said Melanie Hoang, a Junior Varsity Cheerleader.

For sophomores Gabby Pasko, Lauren Carbaugh, Emily Slater, Diana Riggs, Caroline Kinder, Stephanie Gray, Lahna Hall, Lidia Villaruel, Rhea Kabir, Meliyah Faison, Melanie Hoang, Jenea Seaberry and Juliann Derose, it was their last Junior Varsity V competition. The girls were not disappointed with coming in second to Kent Island.

“We have worked so hard this season! We were ready to claim first place again. I thank these girls all the time for letting me be their captain. These girls mean the world to me and I’m really sad I can’t see them every day at practice.” Said Junior Varsity captain, Gabby Pasko.
