On Wednesday, December 6, 2017, the Bel Air Girls’ Basketball team played their first game of the season at Bel Air against Severna Park High School. Junior Varsity was able to beat the Falcons with a score of 26-23. Unfortunately, Varsity lost 39-29.

Coming into the season, the Lady Bobcats had some high expectations for their team. Realizing they have a tough schedule, with two of the first games being against high ranked teams in the state, the Bobcats really had to buckle down to have a successful season.

Junior Varsity came in strong from the get-go and had no let downs against the Falcons. Both teams played great defense and the Bobcats executed their plays very well to help them with this win.

“I think that the whole team did really good this game. Everyone did their job and contributed in the game for the win,” says Sophomore Captain, Ari Hammond.

Then, on Friday, December 8, 2017, the Lady Cats traveled to Howard High School to play against another the Lions. Junior Varsity lost by a score of 55-31 and Varsity lost with a score of 75-26.

In this non-conference game against a highly ranked team in the state, the Bobcats needed to focus and execute every play. Sadly, Varsity fell to the Lions, but still fought hard the whole game.

“We knew this was going to be a tough game for us, mainly because this was one of our first games of the season. There are definitely a lot of things to improve on and we learned a lot from this loss for future games,” says Senior Captain, Elizabeth Hillman.

Come out and support your Lady Bobcats as they continue on their season.
