Girls’ Basketball Defeats Liberty, Falls to Perry Hall

On Monday, December 11, 2017, the Girls’ JV and Varsity Basketball team played at home against Liberty High School. Both JV and Varsity were able to defeat the lions.

In yet another non-conference game, the JV team expected to capture their second win of the season while Varsity was still seeking their first. JV came in this game aggressive and ready to win. Because of the great execution of their plays, the Bobcats defeated the Lions 31-16.

Varsity also played a great game against the Lions. With huge contributions from seniors Julia Henry and Gabi Hall with 9 points each and Sophomore Maggi Hall with 14 points, the Lady Cats’ captured their first win of the season with a score of 48-40.

“The team as a whole played such a great game. We were able to pick up on them quickly and play very aggressively against them.” Says Sophomore Maggi Hall.

Then, on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, the Bobcats played on their home court against Perry Hall High School. JV were able to snag another win against the Gators. Varsity lost with a close score of 50-44.

Varsity played the Gators with high intensity and were winning for most of the game. Senior Julia Henry put up 16 points for the Bobcats, Sophomore Maggi Hall got 10 points, and Junior Bailey Springer got 9 points. Unfortunately, Perry Hall put up a couple more points up on the board and took the lead to ultimately take the win from the Bobcats.

“Losing this game was both upsetting and frustrating to us,” says senior Julia Henry, “They were definitely a beatable team and they just slipped by us. But we can learn from this game for future ones.”
