Bel Air Swim Team Wins first Meet of the Season

On Tuesday, December 12, 2017, the Bel Air High School Varsity Swim team won its first meet of the season against Fallston, Elkton, and Joppatowne High School at Magnolia Middle School.

The Bobcats were led by great performances by Drew Gagnon, Xavier Kane, Emma Manno, and Eliza Cohen.

The Bobcats started the night with the Boys 200 yard medley relay, placing 2nd out of six groups racing. After that, the girls raced in the exact same race and placed 1st out of six groups. In the third event, Bel Air student, Drew Gagnon placed 1st in the Boys 200 yard freestyle with a final time of 2:06.32. The Bobcats had other great individual and team’s performances, with Emma Manno winning Girls 200 Yard IM, and with Zach Hricz, Ryan St. Pierre, Xavier Kane, and Drew Gagnon wining the Boys 200 Yard Freestyle Relay.

“We had a great team performance; the other teams were not able to keep up with us. I’m really proud of how we came together as a group, and won the dual meet,” said Varsity swimmer, Alex Micceli.

The Bobcats also had a great night from some others including Broxa Benesh, Rob Powell, and Sydney Mika, who placed 1st in their events.

“As a team, we came together to win, and I can’t wait for the rest of the season,” said Varsity swimmer, Jacob Harris.

The Bobcats next meet will be against C Milton Wright High School on December 19, 2017 at Magnolia Middle School. Come out and support your Bobcats as they hope to continue their success.
