Girls’ Soccer Defeats Towson, Falls to Linganore in Playoffs

On Wednesday, November 8, 2017, the Bel Air Girls’ Soccer team played Towson High School in their playoff game. The Bobcats defeated the Generals 1-0. The team that won this game would be named the 3A North regional champs, and would advance to the state semifinal game on November 11, 2017.

The game remained scoreless until the end of the first half, when Senior, Lexi Kraemer, scored the first goal of the night, giving Bel Air the lead with a score of 1-0. The game remained scoreless until the end, giving the Bobcats the close win.

“I’m so proud of our team for pulling out this win. We all worked so hard throughout the game and did everything we had to do,” says Sophomore Attack, Maggi Hall.

Then, on Saturday 14, 2017, the Bobcats traveled to Linganore High School to play in the state semifinal game against Linganore High school. The Bobcats lost to the Lancers with a score of 2-1.

“This was the game where we really had to buckle down and play hard for everyone. Unfortunately, some things just didn’t go our way and lost to a very good team with a close score,” says Senior Attack, Elizabeth Hillman.

In the first half, Senior Lexi Kraemer scored the first goal of the game and put the Bobcats on the board with a score of 1-0. Later in the half, Linganore scored the next goal and tied the game at the end of the half with a score of 1-1. In the second half, Linganore scored the last goal of the game off of a penalty kick and defeated Bel Air 2-1.

“Even though we lost this game, we all played our hardest and left it all out on the field. I’m sad the season’s over, but we were so successful this year and I couldn’t be more proud of my team,” says Senior Defender, Gabi Hall.

The Bel Air Girls’ Soccer team ended the season with a record of 15-5 and brought home the regional title. Be sure to come out and support them next year for the 2018-2019 season.
