On November 4, 2017, the Cheerleading Semifinals took place at Harford Community College to see which teams would advance onto states.

The competition started at 4 PM but doors opened at 3. The cost to get in was eight dollars per person. There were 28 teams competing and the Bel Air Cheerleaders were the fourth team to perform.

The Bel Air Varsity Cheerleaders performed at 4:18 PM. The girl’s routine had no stunt falls or tumbling bobbles. The girls competed with three partner stunts, three basket groups, and three pyramid groups. The Bel Air cheerleaders placed 6th out of 28 teams.

“I’m so proud of this team and the work we put into this routine. We did our best that we could do and that’s all we ever wanted. These girls mean the world to me and I can’t wait to see what we put on the floor at states!” said Madison Humes, a Varsity Cheerleader.

There were 28 teams competing in the semi finals competition. The teams competing were Thomas Johnson, Linganore, Manchester Valley, Bel Air, Sherwood, Mt. Hebron, Atholton, Northeast, Quince Orchard, St. Charles, Clarksburg, Churchill, North County, Kenwood, Wootton, Perry Hall, Arundel, South River, Westminster, Chesapeake, Urbana, Tuscarora, Long Reach, Meade, Glen Burnie, North Point, Broadneck, and C. Milton Wright.

“The girls looked so good on the mat. You could tell they wanted to place so badly. Those girls love their team and performing with their team.” said Gabby Pasko, a Junior Varsity Cheerleader who attended the competition.

Only the top 14 teams advanced onto States. The top 2 teams were C. Milton Wright and Linganore. Bel Air placed 6th and thus will be moving onto States, which will be held on November 11th, 2017 at Harford Community College.
