Girls’ Soccer Dominates in First Two Playoff Games

On Friday, November 27, 2017, the Bel Air Girls’ Soccer team played their first round playoff game against Aberdeen High School. The Bobcats were able to seal the win with a score of 7-0.

In the first half, Junior Katie McGrain scored the first goal of the game for the Bobcats within the first two minutes of the half. Later in the half, Junior Autumn Dougherty scored two more goals for the Cats, making the score 3-0.

In the second half, Katie Mcgrain, Senior Gabi Hall, Junior Autumn Dougherty, and Senior Lexi Kraemer each scored another goal for the Bobcats, making the final score 7-0.

“It was so cool for me to score my first goal of the season as a defender, especially in playoffs,” says Senior defender, Gabi Hall. “I’m so excited to see how far we make it in this tournament and I can’t wait for our future games.”

Then, on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, Bel Air played C. Milton Wright High School in the section semifinal game. The Bobcats defeated the Mustangs 6-0

“The team knew this was going to be one of the hardest games for us coming into playoffs. Since we lost to C. Milton in the regular season, we couldn’t let down at any moment and had to go all out to pull the win,” says Senior Elizabeth Hillman.

In the first half, Senior Lexi Kraemer, Junior Lauren Asher, Senior Carolyn Doheny, and Sophomore Maggi Hall each scored a goal for the Bobcats, making the score 4-0 at the end of the first half. In the second half, Junior Maddy Crossley scored two more goals for the Cats, making the final score 6-0.

“We played a phenomenal game and we all did what we had to do. Our passing was on point and we made some really smart plays that really helped us in the game,” says Sophomore attack, Maggi Hall.

The Bobcats will hope to continue their winning ways as the playoffs rage on.
