Cross Country Competes at UCBAC Championships

On Wednesday, October 25, 2017, Bel Air Cross Country team raced in Fair Hill, Elkton, MD at Bohemia Manor High School for the UCBAC Championships. Bel Air raced against North East, Edgewood, Aberdeen, Rising Sun, Perryville, Patterson Mill, North Harford, Elkton, Harford Tech, C. Milton Wright, Fallston, Havre de Grace, Joppatowne, and Bohemia Manor.

At this race, Bel Air placed 4th out of 13 for boys. Senior, Kieran McDermott placed first with a time of 15:43.3. Nick Hammond placed 34th with a season record (SR) time of 18:05.2. There were 2 personal records (PR’s) for Bel Air, Senior, Taylor Farnsworth with a time of 18:35.6, and Sophomore, Daniel Ross with a time of 20:01.

“This was a very good race. I am proud of myself and everyone else on the team,” says Kieran McDermott.

For girls, Bel Air placed 2nd out of 10. Sophomore, Rebekah Cross was the first of the team to finish and placed 4th with a SR time of 20:09.5. Senior, Gabriella Spires also had an SR time of 25:48. Senior, Paige Blaker had a PR time of 21:46.4, Freshman, Maya Feick had a PR time of 22:07.6, Sophomore, Riley McDermott also had a PR time of 22:33.

“I am so happy with everyone’s results and times at this race. Everyone ran great and did their absolute best which helped us place 4th and 2nd out of everyone in the county.” says Rebekah Cross.

It was a great day for the Bobcat Cross Country team who will look to keep up their momentum as the post season continues on the way to states.
