On Friday, September 22nd, 2017, the Bel Air High School girls’ soccer team played on their home field against Our Lady of Good Counsel. The Lady Cats were able to pull out a win with a score of 2-1.

The Bobcats knew Good Counsel was a highly competitive team, so they needed to come out with high intensity and aggressiveness.

Good Counsel scored the first goal of the game in the first half, so the Bobcats really had to buckle down and focus. Soon enough, Sophomore Maddie Wallace put the Bobcats on the board by scoring a goal on a corner kick from Elizabeth Hillman.

“Scoring the first goal for the team felt great! We had been working on corner kicks the practice before game day and to achieve what we worked on made everyone very happy. We all played amazing and played with so much heart,” says Maddie Wallace, A forward on the Lady Bobcat team.

With the game coming to the wire, and the score being 1-1, everyone was unsure who would get the second goal. Finally, Freshman Heather Conley scored the second goal for the Bobcats, making the score 2-1 to secure the win.

“Overall, I think that our team played pretty well. We moved the ball around very well and worked together as a team. Our backs played amazing in spite of the talent that Good Counsel had up top. Our midfield and forwards linked passes together to lead us to the 2-1 win. I’m so proud of us as a team,” says Jill Kozak, the goalkeeper for the Bobcats.

It was another great win in what’s been a great season for the girls’ soccer team. Come out and cheer them on in their remaining games of the season.
