On October 9th, 2017, the Bel Air Varsity and Junior Varsity cheerleading teams will be competing for their first win of the season at the Edgewood High School Cheerleading Invitational.

The Bobcat Cheerleading team have been working incredibly hard leading up to this tournament, practicing six days a week since the beginning of August, in addition to cheering at football games and doing other fundraising activities.

This year, the Junior Varsity cheerleading teams’ main goal will be to win, but also have fun while doing so. The team is not messing around this year, with a team consisting of 15 girls who are all determined for victory. The Junior Varsity team is ready to have an exciting time and win this competition!

“I feel really excited about our upcoming competitions and pep rally. I love my team and I can’t wait to show everyone what we’ve been working on so hard!” said Lidia Villaruel, a Junior Varsity cheerleader.

Gabby Pasko, a Junior Varsity captain said “I am feeling good about this competition! I feel like our team has progressed a lot and I feel like we will all go out there and give it our best!”

The Varsity team is also craving a victory at this competition. This is the first competition for Varsity this year and they are hoping to win this competition to prepare for the upcoming competitions, counties, regionals, and states of this season. Last year, the Varsity girls placed 2nd at counties and are hoping for 1st this year.

The Cheerleaders will also be preparing for the Bel Air Pep Rally. Both Varsity and Junior Varsity will perform their routines in front of the whole school

Maddie Humes, one of the Varsity team members said “I’m feeling really good about this competition and pep rally! For the pep rally I’m very excited to show the whole school what we have been working on and for the competition I am very excited to show the other teams and the community what we have been working on!”

The Pep Rally is October 6th, 2017, the girls’ first competition is October 9th, the second competition for Varsity is October 14th, and the second competition for Junior Varsity is October 21st.

Hopefully Bobcat Nation can come out to all these events and cheer on the cheerleaders!
