On Thursday, September 7th, Football returned for the start of the 2017-2018 NFL season.

The first game of the season was between the Super Bowl 51 champs, the New England Patriots, and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs stormed into Foxboro, and upset the Super Bowl 51 champs with the run game as they defeated the Pats 42-27. Then, on Sunday September 10th, the majority of the games were on our way for week 1 of the 2017-18 season.

In the Ravens vs Bengals game, the Ravens defense looked unstoppable as they shutout the Cincinnati Bengals at Cincinnati 20-0. Over in Detroit, quarterback Matt Stafford was on fire as he threw 4 touchdowns passes to help his team beat the Arizona Cardinals by a final score of 35-23.

Next up in Houston Texas, the Texans hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars in an emotional game for Houston, having recently been devastated by Hurricane Harvey, but the Jaguars spoiled any feel good story for the Texans, crushing them 29-7. In the Raiders vs Titans game, Raiders quarterback Derek Carr returned from injury, throwing for 2 touchdowns to defeat the Titans 26-16.

Over in Pittsburgh, the Steelers hosted the Cleveland Browns in a hard fought battle where Steelers tight end Jesse James’ 2 touchdown passes helped the Steelers top their AFC North rivals by a score of 21-18. The battle of New York between the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets kicked off the next game where Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor threw 2 touchdowns to help the Bills defeat the Jets 21-12.

In Washington D.C. the Redskins were bested by their rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles as quarterback Carson Wentz threw for 2 touchdown passes to top the Redskins 30-17. In Chicago, the Bears defense kept Atlanta Falcons superstar Wide Receiver Julio Jones quiet, but that wouldn’t stop the Falcons from coming out on top by a final score of 23-17.

The Los Angeles Rams put on a show for the home crowd both offensively and defensively as they crushed the Indianapolis Colts 46-9. In San Francisco, the Carolina Panthers defense was on fire, as they held the 49ers to just 3 points, to help them achieve a 23-3 victory. In Green bay, the Packers defense kept the Seahawks out of the end zone to help Green Bay top Seattle 17-9.

In Dallas, the Giants showed their offensive struggles without all-star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., only scoring 3 points which cost them a 19-3 defeat. On Monday, Sept. 11, the first Monday night football games were on our way as the Minnesota Vikings hosted the New Orleans Saints and the Denver Broncos hosted the Los Angeles Chargers.

In Minnesota, former Vikings running back Adrian Peterson returned, but now as a New Orleans Saint. The Vikings held their former teammate to just 18 yards on 6 rushing attempts which helped them pick up a 29-19 victory. In Denver, it was a close one between the Chargers and Broncos but Broncos Defensive end Shelby Harris blocked what would have been the game tying field goal for the Chargers to help the Broncos steal a victory by a final score of 21-24. With an exciting start to the 2017-18 season, hopefully it will continue to be an action packed year in the NFL.
