On Wednesday, May 3, the Bel Air Boys’ Varsity Baseball Team traveled to Patterson Mill to face off against the Huskies for the UCBAC Championship.

The Bobcats went down 2-0 early in the game, but senior Cole Slembecker sparked some life into the Bobcats as he picked up an RBI to cut the score in half. In the top of the fourth inning, now trailing 3-1, junior Andrew Sunday grounded into a fielder’s choice to make the score 3-2.

The Huskies added three more runs in the fifth and sixth inning, putting up one in the bottom of the fifth and two in the sixth to give them a 6-2 lead. In the top of the seventh, junior Liam Bowers hit an RBI triple, but that would not be enough as the Huskies won by a final score of 6-3, becoming the UCBAC regular season champs.

“This game was a tough loss for us, especially because it was for the UCBAC Championship,” Bowers states. “But we still got some games left, so we have to finish the season out strong.”

The next game was Thursday, May 4, in which Bel Air hosted the Westminster Owls. The Bobcats shut down the Owls, not allowing them to score a single run. This helped the Bobcats win the game by a final score of 4-0.

“We played well against Westminster and hopefully we can do the same thing on senior night against Perry Hall,” says Bowers.

The last game of the season is on Monday, May 8, at 4:00 p.m. and they will host the Perry Hall Gators.
