Big UCBAC Win for the Girls’ Lacrosse Team

On Tuesday, April 25, the Bel Air Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse Team took down cross-town rival C. Milton Wright High School by a score of 9-8 to stay undefeated in the UCBAC league. The team is now 5-0 in UCBAC play and is 7-0-1 in Sectional play, ranking first place in both.

C.Milton started the game off strong, putting up two goals and leading the Bobcats 2-0 in the first few minutes of the game. Freshman Maggi Hall opened up the scoring for the Bobcats nine minutes into the game, followed by goals from senior captain Lexi Strobel and juniors Elizabeth Hillman and Julia Henry. C. Milton led at the half by a score of 5-4. After regrouping at halftime, the Bobcats came out in the second half and took the 6-5 lead with goals from Henry and senior captain Anna Farley. The rest of the second half was a back-and-forth battle, and the game ended in a nail-biting finish following two goals from Henry and another goal from Strobel. C. Milton was able to get the ball down the field with under a minute left, but after a big defensive stop, the Bobcats were able to clear the ball up the field and secure the 9-8 win.

“I think we really worked well and gelled together,” says Henry. “It wasn’t our prettiest win, but we played with a lot of heart and really changed the game around when things weren’t exactly going our way. All things aside it was a great team win to have against a rival, and we’re just another step closer to winning UCBAC’s.”

The Bobcats will play another UCBAC game on Thursday, April 27, when they travel to Fallston High School to take on the Cougars. Next week the team has three games, two of which are at home. They will first travel to Westminster High School on Monday, May 1, for a makeup game, followed by two home games. They will host Liberty High School on Wednesday, May 1, followed by a game against Harford Tech High School where they will be celebrating Senior Night. Both games will begin at 6:45 p.m. Make sure you come out and support the Lady Cats as their regular season comes to a close! Go Bobcats!
