On Tuesday, Nov. 1-3, the Boys’ Varsity Volleyball Team participated in the 2016 HCPS Varsity Volleyball Tournament.

Since the boys were the number one seed in the tournament, they got a first-round bye against Harford Tech. The Bobcats got off to a 2-0 start with a 25-18 and 25-22 set victory.

Harford Tech struck back with a set victory of their own, but it wouldn’t matter in the end. The Bobcats took the fourth set which sent them to the finals! In the championship, the Bobcats went up against the C. Milton Wright Mustangs.

“The big win over Harford Tech fired us up and made us even more determined to win the championship.” Says junior Alex Andrew.

The Bobcats were all over C. Milton Wright as they took a 2-0 lead, winning the first set by a score of 25-18 and the second set 25-15. The third set was an intense battle, with both teams exchanging leads until the end when the Bobcats took a 26-25 lead. Soon after, the Bobcats sealed their championship victory with another point and a kill play from senior Finn Gottschalk!

“We worked hard all season,” Andrew says, “and it finally paid off for us when we took home the championship!”
