Edgewood Takes Bel Air Football in Close Game

On Friday, Oct. 28, the Bel Air Bobcats lost to the Edgewood Rams by a score of 14-7 in a tough-fought defensive battle.

The Rams struck first on an 85-yard drive that was capped off by an 11-yard touchdown pass to the left corner of the end zone.

After an interception from senior Devin Adams, the Bobcats took the ball 28 yards for their first and only points of the night scored by senior Keegan McHugh. The Bobcats struggled offensively all night being held to only seven points, the fewest they have scored in a single game all year.

“Credit to Edgewood for having a good defensive game plan and holding us to only seven, but we can’t just accept this.” Says senior lineman Tommy Gomez. “There are things we have to work on in practice to be ready for these tough games.”

The Rams scored their second touchdown of the night late in the fourth quarter, giving them enough points to win. A final attempt by the Bobcats to tie the game ended in a turnover one down after an incomplete pass from quarterback Michael Yetter to Devin Anderson.

“We gave it everything we had but it just wasn’t enough to get into the end zone.” Junior Devin Anderson states. “We have to work on getting out to an early lead so that we aren’t the ones playing from behind.”

The Bobcats’ final regular season home game will take place on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7:00 p.m. It is senior night for the Cats and a must-win game if they want to advance to the playoffs. Come out and support your Bobcats as they take on the Warriors from Havre De Grace at Bobcat Stadium!
