The Bel Air Girls’ Soccer Team played two back-to-back games against Perryville High School on Monday, Oct. 17, celebrating their senior night, and Edgewood High School on Tuesday, Oct. 18. The Bobcats took down the visiting Perryville Panthers 9-3, and beat the Edgewood Rams 3-2.

The Bobcats got out to a fast start against Perryville, going up 3-0 with goals from sophomore midfielder Katie McGrain, sophomore forward Autumn Dougherty, and junior forward Lexi Kraemer. The Panthers responded, scoring three goals to tie the game before the half.

Bel Air came out after halftime and put away six more goals: Three from Kraemer, one from junior forward McKenzie Wallace, one from defender Grace Wehland, and one from junior midfielder Emma Manno.

“I was really excited to score four goals, but more importantly that we got the win.” Says Kraemer. “We woke up at halftime and realized that we needed to change our game and play more intense and I was really happy that we were able to do that.”

The girls traveled to Edgewood High School Tuesday night to take on the Rams in their final regular season game, and their final game in the UCBAC league. McKenzie Wallace opened up the scoring by beating the goalkeeper and placing the ball into the side netting. The score remained 1-0 at the half.

After the half, the Bobcats started off very fast, sophomore midfielder Katie McGrain scoring a goal within the first fifteen minutes. The Rams responded by putting in two goals tying the game. Junior forward Lexi Kraemer scored the game winner for the Bobcats with three minutes left in the game, and they were able to secure the 3-2 win.

“I was really happy to score and it was great for us to break through.” Wallace says. “After the goal we were really pushing the tempo and we dominated for the rest of the half.”

The Bobcats will start their playoff run (date TBA) and will continue to fight to get back to the State Championships in November. Go Bobcats!
