Girls’ Lacrosse Team Defeats Fallston

On Monday, Apr. 25, 2016, the Bel Air Girls’ Lacrosse Team played in a game against Fallston at Cougar Stadium. The Bobcats came out on top, winning 8-7.

In the first half, the ‘Cats scored four unanswered goals, leading 4-0. The Cougars then scored two quick goals, making the score 4-2, Bel Air. Both the Bobcats and Cougars scored another before the half ended, leading into the second part of them game with a score of 5-3, Bel Air. Three Bobcat goals were scored by Senior Captain Bekah Riley, one goal was scored by Junior Anna Farley and one was scored by Sophomore Julia Henry.

The second half started with a goal from Fallston that was quickly answered with a goal from Farley. Just seconds after, Henry scored, making the score 7-4, Bel Air. Fallston then went on a three goal streak, tying up the score 7-7. With just three seconds left in the game, Henry scored, giving the Bobcats an 8-7 lead. There was just enough time for the draw to go up before the buzzer went off. The Bobcats had won the game.

When asked how it felt to score the winning goal just after the game, Henry said, “It felt great to score under so much pressure, but I could never have done it without my team.”
