Girls’ Lacrosse Team Defeats Havre de Grace

On Tuesday, April 12, 2016, the Bel Air Girls’ Lacrosse team played in a home game against Havre de Grace. The Bobcats came out with a win of 18-2.

The Bobcats played hard the entire game, only allowing two goals in. The team was led by Junior Anna Farley and Sophomore Julia Henry with four goals each. Senior Emily McQuay and Sophomore Jenna Signorelli each had three goals and Junior Kami Holt, Junior Karsyn Shek, Junior Lexi Strobel and Freshman Grace Wehland each scored one.

Following the game, Henry said, “I think we played very well. Our defense was strong as always, and our offense seemed to be coming together and playing more as a unit.”

On Thursday, April 14, 2016, the ‘Cats played in an away game against Harford Tech. The Bobcats won with a score of 16-1.

The game started with a quick goal from Harford Tech. The Bobcats quickly retaliated with a few goals. Bel Air scored 10 unanswered goals in the first half. Two goals were scored by Henry and one goal was scored by Senior Captain Bekah Riley and McQuay, Senior Jackie Ranney, Senior Anna Wehland, Farley, Strobel, Freshman Katie McGrain and G. Wehland. The score at halftime was 10-1, Bobcats.

In the second half, the ‘Cats shut out the Cobras and scored 6 goals. Signorelli had two goals while McQuay, Farley, Shek and Henry each scored one. The final score was 16-1 Bobcats.

Henry led the ‘Cats with 3 goals. Senior goalie Sydney Matthews had 3 saves in the first half and Junior goalie Molly Loughlin had 2 saves in the second half.

McQuay said, “We won most of the draws, defense had really good stops and offense played really well together. A few bad decisions were made, but we were able to make up for them and come out on top.”

The team will next play on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Bobcat Stadium against North Harford at 6:45 p.m. This will be a very competitive game, so be sure to come out and support your Bobcats!
