On Wednesday, April 6, 2016, Bel Air hosted a track meet competing against Patterson Mill and Fallston. Bel Air placed first in 21 out of 34 events.

The track team has been working hard to have good outcomes and to place first in as many events as possible. With it being very cold and windy the day of the event, the team knew they had to stay focused. Also, this was a home track meet, meaning the stands were filled with classmates and parents, cheering on the Bobcats.

The first events of the day were the girl’s 800 meters and shot put, and Bel Air runners were beat in both events by Patterson Mill and Fallston. That didn’t stop the Bobcats and their determination to win.

Senior Kelbey Egerland said, “I think the meet went really well in spite of the fact that everyone was cold and the wind was blowing like crazy. The meet was interesting because it was at home so more people were involved than normal. It was a very fun meet and I think everyone competed well.”

Bel Air was very successful in winning the majority of their relays which displayed the team work they had been working to strengthen.

For the team, it’s always an irreplaceable feeling when they finish a race and win. And that’s what they had been working at after learning what their strengths and weaknesses were by competing in two meets previously.

The rest of the events that the Bobcats competed in went smoothly and many runners such as Samantha Bowen, Ryan Wills, Paige Blaker, Jacob Sparr, and Kieran McDermott placed first.

Make sure you come to cheer on your track team at their next meet! Go Bobcats!
