On Monday, April 12, 2016, the BAHS Girls’ Lacrosse team played in their first conference game at Patterson Mill. The Bobcats played hard and came out with a 14-6 win over the Huskies.

The Bobcats started strong and scored 9 unreturned goals. Three goals were scored by Senior Captain Bekah Riley, two by Junior Anna Farley, two by Sophomore Julia Henry, one from Senior Emily McQuay and one from Freshman Katie McGrain. At the end of the half, Patterson scored. The score at halftime was 9-1, Bel Air.

During the second half, Bel Air maintained their intensity, however the goals were more back and forth. Bel Air scored the first two goals of the half, giving the Bobcats a 10 goal lead. Then, Patterson retaliated, scoring a goal. Bel Air then scored, and so the pattern continued until the score was 14-5. The Huskies were able to sneak in the last goal of the game with just seconds left, making the final score 14-6. Bel Air goals were scored by Seniors McQuay and Riley, Junior Lexi Strobel, Freshman Jenna Signorelli and Freshman Grace Wehland.

Coach Barry said, “I think it was a complete team victory. We were aggressive on the draw and ground balls, defensively we were vocal and worked together as a unit to collapse the ball fast and shut down their main threats. There were lots of forced turnovers and had excellent goalie play both halves. We were patient and composed in transition, as well as on attack. Ball movement and shot fakes were key to the large margin of victory. Ten of our fourteen goals had assists, indicating tremendous teamwork and selflessness.”
