On Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 our Lady Bobcats faced off against Kenwood High School and won 36-16. On Monday, Feb. 29, 2016 the girls played Catonsville and lost 68-23.

The girls came out and scored 15 points to Kenwood’s 7 within the first half of the game. Junior Oceana Murphy led the team scoring 15 points over the course of the game. After half-time, the girls came back out and scored 21 points, beating Kenwood’s 9 points to finish the game with a score of 36-13.

“We played smothering defense, which made up for all of our offensive deficiencies. We had a horrible shooting night and we turned the ball over a lot but our defense made it possible to keep command of the game. We are entering our Catonsville game with high expectations of ourselves. Regardless of who we play, we go hard and leave it all on the floor. There is no “quit” in this team,” explained Head Coach Skelton.

Our lady Bobcats scored 19 points to Catonsville’s 46 points within the first half. Senior Natalie Neff led the team scoring 6 points over the course of the game. After half time the girls hit the court and scored another 4 points to Catonsville’s 22 points to finish the game 68-23.

“We did a good job breaking their press once we settled down, and Natalie Neff was dominant in the paint! Sadly, though, we just didn’t have the firepower to stay with them. We hoped to be competitive, but knew what we were getting into. Catonsville is the #1 seed and has been dominant all year, they’ve only lost one game this year, and showed why last night.” Head Coach Skelton continued to share, “This season’s expectations were exceeded in every single way! Our girls really showed what can be accomplished with leadership, chemistry, and a lot of really hard work. I am totally impressed with what our girls both JV and varsity accomplished as a program, and I’m so proud to have coached them. We are losing all 5 starters going into next year, so we will be “rebuilding” in many ways. Next year’s fortunes will be largely dependent on whether or not our young players have learned to lead and create the kind of chemistry and selfless culture that this year’s seniors have continued. Culture-changers. This year’s senior class changed me as a person, and as a coach. They came along at a very difficult time in my coaching career and restored my faith in ‘the process.’ I can say, in total honesty, that they are the reason that I’m still coaching and trying to impact young players’ lives.”

We thank all Bobcat fans who came out to support our Varsity Lady Bobcats throughout their season and hope to see the same in seasons to come! Go bobcats!
