Girls’ Soccer Kicks Their Way to State Semifinals

On Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015 our soccer Lady Bobcats played Aberdeen High School in the 3A North Region Semifinal and won, 8-1. On Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015 Bel Air faced and defeated Townson in the 3A Region Final with a score of 6-0.

Coming out strong in the first half against Aberdeen, Senior Rebekah Riley with assist from Freshmen Autumn Dougherty scored the first of four goals. Senior Jamie Layfield with assist from Senior Gabby Encarnacion scored the second goal of the first half. Quickly following, Encarnacion came back and scored the third goal of the game with assist from Riley. To end the first half with a score of 4-1, Junior Ali McSpadden scored with assist from Riley.

Senior and Starting Keeper Andrea Sipos played a solid game, making a total of six saves only allowing one goal in during the first half.  After half time, the Bobcats took the field and McSpadden started off with scoring her second goal of the game with assist from Senior Jamie Layfield. Following closely behind, Senior Juliana Portera with no assist scored the sixth goal of the game. To finish the game, Freshmen Autumn Dougherty scored two goals with no assists.

“We passed the ball really well and our movement was outstanding,” commented Head Coach Clemmer on the game against Aberdeen, “we need to be sure to stay focused as our next game will be against a more difficult opponent.”

In the first half against the Townson General Officers, Senior Gabby Encarnacion started off by scoring the first goal of the game with assist from Sophomore Lexi Kramer. Quickly following, Senior Jamie Layfield with assist from Senior Rebekah Riley scored the second goal of the game. Senior Starting Keeper Andrea Sipos started the game making six solid saves before Freshman Jill Kozak took over, making two saves.

After half time, the girls took the field and Sophomore Lexi Kraemer with assist from Senior Kenzie Wills scored the third goal of the game. Sophomore Carolyn Doheny with assist from Freshman Autumn Dougherty quickly followed scoring another goal. To end the game Senior Natalie Neff and Junior Ali McSpadden both scored a goal with no assist.  The Bobcats won the game with a score of 6-0.
