Bel Air XC Places First and Second

On Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, the Bel Air Cross Country team ran in their last regular season meet at C. Milton Wright against C. Milton and Patterson Mill. The boys’ team placed first and the girls’ team placed second.

The boys’ team was, as usual, led by sophomore Kieran McDermott in first place with a personal record of 15:52. Closely behind was Senior Captain Austin Weiss in fourth place with a time of 16:56 and junior Ethan Anderson in fifth place with a personal record time of 17:40.

The girls’ team was led by Senior Morgan Smith in third place with a personal record time of 21:29. Smith was followed by Senior Captain Joy Hayward in ninth place, also with a personal record time of 22:13 and junior Maggie Bridges in tenth place with a personal record time of 22:50.

Smith said, “I am very proud of everyone at the meet. Most of the team ‘PR-ed’ and if we keep it up, I think we will go far this season.”

On Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, BAXC ran in the Gunpowder Invitational Meet at Jerusalem Mill against twenty-one different schools. The boys’ team placed fifth and the girls’ team placed thirteenth.

The boys’ team was led by McDermott in first place with a time of 16:08. Behind McDermott was Weiss in twenty first place with yet another personal record time of 17:13 and sophomore Ethan Gray in thirty first place with a time of 17:36.

The girls’ team was again led by Smith in thirty eighth place with another personal record time of 21:26. Finishing shortly after were Hayward in sixty third place with a time of 22:15 and sophomore Paige Blaker in seventy fourth place with a time of 22:35.

Junior Andrew Adkins said, “The team ran very well today, especially since it was really cold and a hilly, repetitive course.”
