On Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, the girls’ varsity soccer team won their first game of the season against Severna Park with a score of 2-1.

The first half was primarily defensive, with both teams at 0-0 when the buzzer went off. After a short break the Bobcats took the field and found themselves down 1-0 until Sophomore Lexi Kraemer assisted by Haley Seabolt, came back and scored tying the game 1-1.

Tied at 1-1 both teams fought to up the score while Senior Andrea Sipos worked in the goal making 11 solid saves. With less than four minutes in the game, Sophomore Lexi Kraemer assisted by Senior Carrie Simmons scored the winning goal of the game bumping the score to 2-1.

“I felt like everybody stepped it up a bit and kept the game moving. It really pumped our team up because we were down one,” said Kraemer.

In an intense final 45 seconds both teams crowded around Severna’s goal fighting for control of the ball when the buzzer went off signifying the end of the game. With a final score of 2-1 the Girls Varsity Soccer team started off the season with a win against Severna Park.

Clemmer said, “I think halftime we were just frustrated; we were not able to get the chances on goal that we wanted. But, when they did poke one through after halftime, it woke us up. We were forced to defend at times. We felt like they didn’t get too many quality chances on goal, but they spent too much time in our half of the field.”

The girl’s next game is Friday, Sept. 18, away, against John Carroll. Come on out and support your Bel Air High school Girls Soccer team. Go Bobcats!
