Girls’ Lacrosse Gains 2 More Wins and a Loss Last Week

On Monday, April 13, 2015, the Bel Air Girls’ Lacrosse team traveled to North County High School to start their three game week.

The Bobcats had various players score in their 18-4 victory over North County. Sophomores Anna Farley and Lexi Strobel both tallied a hat trick during the match, while Julia Henry, Emily McQuay, Natalie Neff, Sam Keesey and Shannon Williams all tallied two goals. Jackie Ranney and Bekah Riley put up one goal for the Lady ‘Cats.

The ‘Cats then were back in action on Wednesday, April 15, when they travelled to take on the Rams of Edgewood. It resulted in a Bobcat win with a final score of 17-5. Sophomore Anna Farley would tally four goals in the game while Freshmen Julia Henry and Jenna Signorelli both recorded a hat trick. Sophomore Lexi Strobel, Junior Bekah Riley and Senior Katy Higinbothom all scored two goals to help the Bobcats in their victory and Junior Emily McQuay and Senior Captain Sam Keesey both recorded one. On the defensive side, both goalies saw some field action. Sophomore Molly Loughlin tallied 7 saves and Junior Keeper Sydney Matthews mirrored Loughlin’s 7 with her own set of 7 saves.

The ‘Cats took on their final game of the week on Thursday, April 16, at Bobcat Stadium against the John Carroll Patriots. The match resulted in a tough loss for the Bobcats of 11-16. The ‘Cats only recorded three goals in the first half from Freshman Julia Henry, Senior Katy Higinbothom and Senior Captain Sam Keesey, resulting in a halftime score of 3-10. The Bobcats came out hard in the second half. Keesey recorded three more goals while Sophomore Anna Farley scored two. Sophomore Lexi Strobel, Junior Emily McQuay, and Senior Captain Shannon Williams all had one goal.

“We came out strong against North County and really worked to prefect everything we need to in order to get as far as we plan on going this season. In the John Carroll game, even though we came out a lot harder in the second half rather than the first, I couldn’t be happier with the effort and work put in by everyone. We never gave up and it showed, I am incredibly proud of our team so far this season,” stated Senior Captain Sam Keesey.
