On Tuesday, March 24, 2015, the BAHS Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse team traveled to Towson High School to play a game against Towson.

The game started off with Towson scoring four quick goals against Bel Air. Fortunately, the Bobcats were able to pull themselves together and take the lead with one goal from Senior Morgan Hollenback, one goal from Junior Bekah Riley, one goal from Freshman Julia Henry, two goals from Senior Shannon Williams and two goals from Sophomore Anna Farley. The score was 7-5 Bel Air at halftime.

Senior Katy Higinbothom said, “The intensity level at the half was very high. We were motivated to keep our lead, but Towson was just as motivated to beat us.”

After a motivational talk from Coach Barry and a loud cheer, the Bobcats were ready to take the field for the second half. Two quick goals from Towson followed by another goal from Riley and a goal from Junior Emily McQuay brought up the intensity of the players. In the last six minutes of the game, Bel Air was up 9-8.  With two minutes left, Towson tied the score. Those last minutes were the most intense of the entire game. Everyone was hustling and Bel Air Junior Goalie Sydney Matthews finished the game with 11 saves. Unfortunately for the Bobcats, the game ended with a nail-biting score of 9-10 Towson.

Freshman Jenna Signorelli said, “I’d like to see them again in the playoffs. They are a really good team, but I know we can beat them.”

Although they lost, Bel Air played hard still have high hopes for the rest of the season.
