Girls’ Lax Flies Over Hawks

On Thursday, March 26, 2015 the Girls’ Lacrosse team had their home opener against the Hawks of North Harford.

The Hawks got the early 2-0 lead but then the Bobcats would come back and tie it up at two with goals coming from Junior Bekah Riley and Freshman Julia Henry. The rest of the half consisted of a lot of back and forth action between the Bobcats and the Hawks. After the ‘Cats two goal run, the Hawks came back to score one but Sophomore Anna Farley would pick up her first goal of the game to tie it up again at three. The Hawks then went on a two goal run to go up 5-3 but Riley would tally her second and bring the Bobcats within one and then fellow Junior Emily McQuay would tally a goal for the ‘Cats to tie it up at five. Senior Sam Keesey would score her first to extend the lead then Riley would then complete her hat trick by adding another goal to the scoreboard giving the Bobcats a solid 7-5 lead going into the half.

“North Harford is always a good opponent but our team really pulled through,” stated Junior Bekah Riley. “We worked really worked well together and stayed strong even though it started raining.”

Starting the second half, the Hawks came out and scored two quick goals to tie up the game 7-7 but then the ‘Cats would score two of their own coming from Riley and Senior Shannon Williams to extend the lead to 9-7. The Hawks wouldn’t go down without a fight when they came back and scored one of their own. Farley would add her second to the scoreboard making the score 10-8 but after the Farley goal, the Hawks scored two to tie the game back up at 10 each. The ‘Cats would then add two more goals coming from Farley and Riley to make the score 12-10 but to answer the two goal run by the Bobcats, the Hawks scored one to make the score 12-11 which would be the final score in favor of the Bobcats.

“We came together as a team,” said Sophomore Anna Farley. “We played hard and never gave up a lead.”
