Girls’ Soccer Shuts Out Both Severn and Fallston in Back to Back Matches

On Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, the Bel Air Girls’ Soccer team hosted the Severn Admirals in Bobcat Stadium.

The Bobcats defeated Severn High School, sending the Admirals home with a 3-0 loss.

Bel Air’s Senior Kayla Klock struck the first score with 25 minutes to play in the first half with an assist from Junior Jamie Layfield.

As both teams were about to leave the field for halftime, Junior Jamie Layfield shot a long one from Freshman Carolyn Doheny to end the half with a shocking last second goal.

At the half, the score was 2-0 in favor of Bel Air. The Lady ‘Cats came out on the pitch for the second half with high hopes of finishing this Monday night game with a win. To finish the game, Senior Kayla Klock struck again with an assist by Junior Kenzie Wills to make the score 3-0.

On the following night, Tuesday, Oct. 21, the Bel Air Bobcats traveled to Fallston High School to pick up the Chesapeake Division title in a big rival match.

Senior Kayla Klock scored the first goal with the assist from Junior Gabby Encarnacion, putting the ‘Cats on the scoreboard.

The first half ended with a 1-0 score in favor of Bel Air.

Freshman Lexi Kraemer scored in the second half with the assist from Junior Julianna Portera making it a 2-0 game. The Bobcats defensive line held up strong keeping longtime rival Cougars off the scoreboard.  Junior Goalie Andrea Sipos had 6 saves for the night to help win the match.

Senior Renie Tsomos spoke of the two back to back wins. “These two shut out games have really displayed our determination and domination on the field. We have played so well as a team during the regular season. I can’t wait to see what we accomplish during playoffs.”
