On Tuesday, Sept. 30, the 7-1 Bel Air Boys Varsity Soccer team faced off against Aberdeen High School in hopes of avenging their first loss of the season to Reservoir High School. After the loss, the Bobcats came out hot, dominating the Eagles all second half as Anthony Sampayo scored off of a free kick from Matt Rannie, one of his two assists of the game. Followed by another goal off a header by Evan Reinhardt, the Bobcats went ahead 2-0 and were in calm control for the rest of the game. With about 15 minutes left in the game, Captain Logan Szekalski put in an unassisted goal off of a one on one with the keeper to ensure Bel Airs victory improving to 8-1.

Thursday, Oct. 2, the Bobcats had yet another tough game against a county rival, as Bel Air took on C. Milton Wright in their 10th game of the year and possibly the most important regular season game. Throughout the first 30 minutes, it was all defense by both teams. Held to only 3 shots, the Mustangs were able to put one in off a corner 8 seconds before the end of the half.

After falling behind at the half, the Bobcats were able to gather themselves and not fall under the pressure. As the last few minutes started to tick away in a 1-0 game, Jason Dinsmore assisted Captain Logan Szekalski in a short pass from the back post that he easily tapped in for the game tying goal. After 80 minutes of regulation, the game ended in a draw at 1-1.

Afterwards, Captain Logan Szekalski expressed his feeling on the game. “It was good for now, were content with the tie but the next time we see them we need a better result to advance.”
