Field Hockey Suffers Second Loss Against Patterson Mill

On Friday Sept. 26, 2014, the Field Hockey team suffered their second loss of the season to the Huskies of Patterson Mill in a 2-0 game.

The game started off with a lot of back and forth action between the Huskies and Bobcats. Unfortunately the Huskies tallied the first goal of the game off of a penalty corner to make the score 1-0. The Bobcats fought back by causing one penalty corner after another, but unfortunately the Bobcat offense could not squeeze the ball past the goalie. The Huskies would then find their way through the Bobcat defense and would slam a drive into the goal to extend their lead to 2-0. The last Husky goal would conclude to scoring for the rest of the game.

“Patterson Mill was excellent competition. In the end, we were connecting as a team, but there was a breakdown of sorts between our offense and defense,” stated Senior Captain Morgan Domanico.

The second half was full of back and forth action and some nail biting moments. The Bobcats held possession for most of the half, but again they were unsuccessful when trying to get the ball past the goalie. The Huskies had a couple chances to score a third goal, but the Bobcat defense stepped up and did not allow the Huskies to tally another. Senior goalkeeper and Captain Morgan Domanico preformed wonderfully in the goal to tally six saves in the game. Senior Olivia Street dominated in the sweeper position to help stop the Husky fast break. Unfortunately, the Bobcats ran out of ticks on the clock and were unable to tally a goal. The scored remained 2-0.

“We played a tough game against Patterson Mill. We all put our hearts on the field. The score does not reflect how we played,” stated Captain Judy Yurkofsky. “Losing to this team helps motivates us for our next big game on Monday.”

The Bobcats move to 6-2 on the season.
