The Lady Bobcat Basketball Team took on the Edgewood Rams for their Senior Night, on Tue., Feb. 25 2014, at Bel Air High School. The Bobcats came into the night looking for another win against the Rams after beating them once earlier in the season.
The two Lady Bobcat Seniors that were being celebrated at the game were Jamie Bittner and Emily Strawbridge. Bittner and Strawbridge both have been steady contributors to the team all year long.
The Lady Bobcats had a tough start offensively against the Rams, as they didn’t score until 3:09 left in the 1st Quarter, bringing the score to 5-2. The Bobcats inched closer with another basket with 2:21 left in the 1st Quarter.
The Lady Bobcats entered the 2nd Quarter down 12-7. The Bobcats began to rally as they scored with 5:07 left to make the score 14-9. The offense chipped away at the Edgewood lead until they brought the score to 14-13 with 3:56 left in the quarter. Strawbridge gave the Bobcats the lead with 3:44 left in the quarter after draining two free- throws to make the score 15-14.
The Bobcats began the 3rd Quarter leading 21-18. The tough defense helped maintain a steady lead through the quarter as Junior Meghan Barnett hit two free throws to put the Lady Bobcats up 27-24.
The Bobcats were leading 29-24 going into the 4th Quarter. Sophomore Anna Wheland hit a three pointer to put the Bobcats up 46-36. The Bobcats went on to win the game 46-36. Senior Emily Strawbridge led the Bobcats scoring with 16 points.
The Seniors were sent off in style with the win against the Rams. Senior Jamie Bittner reflected, “it was the best. It was like a cherry on top and it was great to win this one. Winning with this team made it even better.”
