The Bel Air Bobcats took on the North Harford Hawks at Bel Air High School on Jan.28, 2014. The ‘Cats managed to pick up a commanding 53-39 victory at their home court.
The Bobcats wasted little time, starting off with a bang as Samantha Barnett hit a three pointer with 6:32 left in the first quarter to put the Bobcats up 3-2. The game was then tied up at 4-4 with 5:20 remaining in the first. Samantha Barnett hit another three with 4:45 left to put the Bobcats up 7-4.
The score entering the second quarter was 17-11 with the Bobcats leading the game. The Hawks continued to fight hard and keep the game close throughout the quarter. The score entering the half was 23-17 Bel Air. The Hawks held the Bobcats to only 6 point in the second quarter.
The Bobcats continued to play hard throughout the game and did their best to gain a larger lead. The ‘Cats jumped out to a 12 point lead as Samantha Barnett completed a three point play with 3:40 left in the quarter. Bel Air went up by 18 with 1:32 left in the third to hold their lead at 40-22.
The Bobcats continued to keep the pace up as they continued to score. The Bobcats ended up winning the game with a score of 53-39.
The Bobcats leading scorer on the night was Samantha Barnett with 18 points. “This was a great win against a good team. We really needed this win to get us back on track and I am just very happy that I was able to help the team get this win.”
