Cheerleading Comes in Close 2nd at Hereford

On Jan. 11, 2014, the Bel Air High School Varsity Cheerleading Team competed at the Hereford Invitational at Hereford High School. The Varsity team finished 2nd and the JV team finished 1st.

It was an early morning for the Cheerleading team. They arrived at the school at 6:00 A.M. in order to be ready for the competition starting at 10:00 A.M.  C. Milton Wright and Fallston joined the Lady Bobcats as representatives from Harford County. Many teams from Baltimore, Carroll and Cecil Counties attended as well.

Varsity performed 3rd in the whole competition at 10:17 A.M. and performed well with a few minor deductions.  JV performed shortly after and had a very clean routine with only minor deductions.

The JV team won 1st place without a hitch, beating the 2nd place Perry Hall High School by over 20 points.  The Varsity team lost to Westminster High School from Carroll County. The girls were happy to have the practice performing their routine in front of the judges before the County competition.

“What a great experience to watch their determination and hard work pay off so early in the season! Both JV and Varsity have blossomed over the past few weeks and put on solid performances Saturday.  I am looking forward to getting back to work to prepare for our final county competition on January 29th,” said coach Jess Groom.

The girls compete next at Patterson Mill High School on Jan. 24 at the Patterson Mill Invitational.  Come out and support your Bel Air Lady Bobcat cheerleaders!
