Wrestling Continues Winning Season

On Sat., Jan. 4, 2014 the Wrestling team participated in the Iron Horse Duals at C. Milton Wright High School.

The Bobcats wrestled five matches on Saturday against Hereford, Liberty, C. Milton Wright and John Carroll. The team defeated ranked Hereford High School 37-27, Liberty High School 67-7 and C. Milton Wright 52-18. The ‘Cats fell short to John Carroll 53-12 and Georgetown Prep 41-27. At the end of the tournament, the Bobcats finished with a 3-2 record and 4th place overall out of twelve teams.

“I am really excited about how we wrestled this weekend,” stated Coach Reddish. “We took on some hard competition like Hereford who is actually ranked in the top 20 and we wrestled really well against them and came out on top. I excited to see what next for the team and for the rest of the season.”

On Mon., Jan. 6, 2014, the Bobcats were at it again hosting a Tri Meet against Perryville and North Harford. The ‘Cats came out on top against both teams, defeating North Harford 64-4 and Perryville 66-10. The Bobcats wrestled the Perryville Panthers for their first match on the night. The first five wrestlers gained wins for the team; three of the five wins were off of forfeits. Seniors Sam Guo and Captain John Cross both started the team off with a pair of wins but after Bobcat loss, the team rebounded with six straight wins by Sophomores Dakota Crawford and Tyler Ham, Juniors Nick Kutz and David Reagan and Seniors Gavin Rupprecht and Captain Cyler Crawford. After one more Bobcat loss, Sophomore Jack Jenkens and Senior Ryan Beveridge tallied two more wins to secure the 66-10 win for the Bobcats.

The Bobcats took on the North Harford Hawks for their last match on the night and achieved a 64-6 win. The Bobcats started off the match with a solid nine wins to start off the match. Seven of the wins included pins. Sophomores Jack Jankens, Dakota Crawford and Tyler Ham, Juniors Pablo Chavarria, David Reagan and Nick Kutz and Senior Captains John Cross, Cyler Crawford and Grant Fleming all tallied wins for the Bobcats. After tallying one Bobcat loss, Junior Brady Stafford and Senior Ryan Beveridge both added goals to the board. Junior Cameron Watts added the final win on the night to help achieve a 64-6 Bobcat victory.

“Against North Harford and Perryville we really proved how good of a team we are,” Stated Senior Captain Grant Fleming. “As a team we, are capable of going very far this season and if we keep practicing hard and performing to our fullest potential, we are capable of doing anything.”

The Bobcats move to an impressive 12-4 record and travel to Severna Park High School on Thu., Jan. 9, 2014 to take on Severna Park.
