The Bel Air Golf Team competed in the 2013 MPSSAA 3A-4A State Championship last week at the University of Maryland. The tournament took place over three days, with the Bobcats playing on Monday, Oct. 28 and Wednesday, Oct. 29.
The Bobcats’ lineup for states consisted of Senior Captain Nick Loiodice, Junior Captain Tyler Newton, Junior Cody Smith and Senior Sam Tepelides. Loiodice, Newton and Smith all competed in the individual competition at the tournament while Tepelides’s score only contributed to the teams overall score.
Loiodice shot a 79, Newton shot an 81, Smith had a 91 while Tepelides came in with a 94. The teams overall score was 345. Unfortunately the Bobcats came up a little short and missed the team cut for the tournament. Cody Smith missed the Individual Cut at 84, for the Individual competition.
Loiodice and Newton both made the individual cut and returned to the tournament on Wednesday. Loiodice carded an 80 on the day, while Tyler Newton came in with a 79. Loiodice placed 21st overall while Newton came in at 22nd for the tournament.
The tournament marks the end of a strong season for the 2013 Golf Team. Congratulations on all of this season’s accomplishments!
