Bobcats, Bowers Run Over Huskies

On Friday, October 25, 2013 the Bel Air High School Varsity football team played their cross-town rivals, the Patterson Mill Huskies. For the second year in a row, the Bobcats were victorious against the Huskies, winning by a score of 28-7.

 

The Bobcats took control of the game early; Devin Bowers ran for a touchdown on the game’s opening possession. A successful extra point try by Sean Vono gave the ‘Cats a 7-0 lead just moments into the game. On the ensuing kickoff, Mike Marshall forced a fumble that was recovered by Aferne Thomas, giving the ball back to the Bobcats. The second drive ended like the first- a touchdown run by Bowers and an extra point by Vono. The Bobcats led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Patterson Mill scored its only touchdown of the night when Isiah Welch caught a pass from Austin Baltimore in the second quarter. Bel Air led 14-7 at halftime.

 

The Bobcats started out strong after the half when Kyle Hamrick caught a touchdown pass from Matt Wallace in the third quarter. Devin Bowers scored the final touchdown of the night and two more successful point after try’s by Sean Vono made the final score 28-7.

 

“It was a game of domination. Offensively we consistently ran the ball against them with success. Defensively we held them to under 100 yards. We couldn’t ask for a better effort. But we’re not done yet. Big thanks to Bobcat Nation for helping us out, they got us so hyped up,” says Clay Brumbaugh, a senior team captain.

 

The Bobcats next game will be on Friday, November 1, 2013 against the C. Milton Wright Mustangs at C. Milton Wright High School. Tickets are $5.00. Come out to support your Bobcats!
