On Tuesday, September 17th and Thursday, September 19th, The Bel Air Bobcats continued their streak of dominance defeating the Rising Sun Tigers and the Elkton Elks respectively in Varsity Golf.
The Bobcats took on the teams at Rising Sun Chesapeake Bay Club on a challenging layout. This course will also be the home for the District Championship this year. The match took place Tuesday, September 17th. The Bobcats had to play the Back 9 instead of the intended Front 9. The sudden change didn’t make a difference however, as the Bobcats were led to victory by Captains Nick Loiodice and Tyler Newton who shot a 40 and 41 respectively. The rest of the Bobcats played steadily with Sam Tepelides shooting a 45, Cody Smith coming in with a 52, Matt McGee also with a 52, and Sam Barnett rounding out the bunch with a 59. The Bobcats total score was 225, besting Rising Sun’s 238 and Elkton’s 289.
On Thursday the 19th, the Bobcats were, again, matched up against the Rising Sun Tigers and the Havre De Grace Warriors, but once again, it was the same old story as the Bobcats picked up the win. The team played at Ruggles Golf Course, the home course for the Warriors. The course played harder than usual with the green requiring a significant skill set to master. The Bobcats were once again led by the one- two punch of their team Captains Nick Loiodice bringing in a score of and Tyler Newton, shooting a 40 and 41 respectively. The Bobcats got solid contributions from the rest of their team; Cody Smith shot a good score of 44 and key newcomers Spencer Comitz and Connor Small shot 47 and 49 respectively. The Bobcats total score was 221, 7 strokes better than Rising Sun’s total score of 228.
The Bobcats remain undefeated heading in to the District Championship. The Bobcats are looking to go for a three-peat this season. The tournament will take place on September 24th. Coach Doyle had just one thing to say on the teams wins this week : “ I’m going to give you a little advice There’s a force in the universe that make things happen, all you have to do is get in touch with it, stop thinking and let things happen. Be the ball.”
