The Bel Air Bobcats Golf Team has gotten off to a hot start this season, going undefeated so far. The team won the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference Championship for the second year in row. One of the highlights of the season so far has Junior Tyler Newton’s very impressive score of 32 which is 4 under par at Winters Run.
On Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, the Golf Team took on the C. Milton Wright Mustangs and the Edgewood Rams at a challenging course at Maryland Golf and Country Club. The Bobcats fought hard the entire day, as the greens were fast and the rough was unforgiving. One mistake from any player and it was costing them some strokes.
The Bobcats won the event with a total score of 228, with CMW following with a 244 and Edgewood coming in last with a score of 281. The Bobcats were led by Senior Captain Nick Loiodice who shot his personal best with a score of 37. The second best score for the team was junior captain Tyler Newton who carried a 43. The Bobcats got solid performances out of the rest of their team as well. Sam Tepelides shot a 48, while Cody Smith came in one stroke behind with a score of 49, and key newcomer Spencer Comitz shooting a 51.
The Bobcats take on the North Harford Hawks and the Aberdeen Eagles on Thursday, Sept., 12, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. at Bel Air’s home course – Winters Run. The Bobcats look to keep their undefeated streak going.
