Underhill Leads Bobcats Past Elks on Senior Night

The Lady Bobcat’s won a close game against the Elkton Elks by pulling away late in the game, on Tuesday, February 12th. The Bel Air Girls’ Basketball team used this game to honor the senior Bobcats. The graduating seniors in the game were Connor Hanley, Kate Chizmar, Lacy Underhill, Armni Veltman-Smith, and Brook Lorber.

The Bobcats were led in scoring by senior Lacy Underhill who scored 17 points on the night. Sophomore Rene Tsomos also scored 11 points. The Bobcats started out strong as Lacy Underhill made a 3-pointer to give the Bobcats 5-3 lead with 6:48 left in the 1st quarter. 

The Bobcats were losing 23-18 at halftime.  The Bobcats started off quick in the 3rd quarter when Rene Tsomos made a three pointer to shrink the lead to 22-24 with 5:20 left in the 3rd quarter.  Less than 2 minutes later, freshman Natalie Neff tied the game up 24-24 for the Bobcats. The game continued to be close after an Elkton basket that put the Elks up 26-24. Lacy Underhill made a three pointer with 3:05 left in the3rd quarter to put the Bobcats up 27-26. Underhill continued to score, converting a 3-point play with 2:35 left in the 3rd quarter. Rene Tsomos made an incredible layup with 1:40 left in the 3rd quarter to help strengthen the lead of the Bobcats 35-29.

 The Bobcats entered the 4th leading 39-29. With 2:05 left in the 4th quarter senior Connor Hanley scored on a second chance bucket off a free throw to put the Bobcats up 57-46. The Bobcats end up holding on to the lead winning 61-55. This moved the Bobcats to 9-8 on the season.
