Holder-Moore Wins 100th Career Match as Bobcats Pin Bo Manor

On Thursday, January 30th, the Bel Air varsity wrestling team wrestled Bo Manor on senior night. The Bobcats won the match by a final score of 43-25. The highlight of the night was when senior captain, William Holder-Moore, pinned his opponent to become the 7th player in school history to win 100 career matches.

“I am proud of Holder-Moore for this accomplishment. He has worked extremely hard to get to where he is now because he began wrestling for the first time in high school,” said Coach Reddish.

Four years after starting wrestling, Holder-Moore has his sights set on wrestling in college at Thiel College in Pennsylvania where he was offered a scholarship.

“I don’t think the individual titles I’ve won really compare to my 100th win. They might dwarf it in terms of difficulty, but it meant so much more,” said Holder-Moore. “Everyone yelling my name and clapping was the most surreal experience and if I didn’t leave the gym to calm down I definitely would’ve cried. To me it serves as a milestone of all the blood, sweat, and tears, but I’m not planning on being nostalgic until I get my hand raised four times at the state tournament this year.”

Coach Reddish believes that the next wrestler to get into the 100 win club will be junior John Cross. Coach Reddish expects Cross to enter next season 10-15 wins away from 100.

Holder-Moore has high expectations for his team as well. “We’ve pretty much sealed up our spot in the region duals. Being that 3a/4a East is, by far, the deepest region in the state, I think us just being top 4 out of 32 of the best metropolitan area schools is a feat on its own. But we’ve already won the team conference title so I think we can win it individually as well. And top 3 in the region individually may be lofty, but this team has proved me wrong before so I can say that with a certain degree of confidence.”
