Wrestling Pins Competition, Prepares for Regional Duals

As the Bel Air Wrestling team approaches midseason they have a 17-3 record and are on pace to qualify for the regional duals in February. The Bobcats added six wins the their impressive résumé in the past week by defeating Rising Sun in a match and posting a 5-2 team record at the C. Milton Wright Duals.

The Bobcats began last week by defeating Rising Sun by a score of 52-15. Pins were recorded for the Bobcats by David Reagan and Brady Stafford at 120, Cameron Watts at 132, John Cross at 152 and Grant Fleming at 170. Cyler Crawford (195), Gavin Rupprecht (113), and Luke Schlegel (285) won their matches by decisions. Connor Nash and William Holder Moore each won matches by forfeit.

On Friday, January 4th and Saturday, January 5th, the wrestling team competed in the C. Milton Wright Dual meet. The Bobcats recorded 5 wins and 2 losses at the duals, with notable wins coming over Parkville (58-15), Eastern Tech (48-12), C. Milton Wright (62-11), and Liberty High School (42-25). Coach Reddish emphasized his excitement in the win over Liberty High School.

“It felt great to win over a team that beat us at this dual last year. It shows our improvement as a program,” Coach Reddish said after the meet.

Senior Captain William Holder Moore leads the Bobcats with a 20-0 overall record while junior captain John Cross has an overall record of 19-1. Both wrestlers played a critical role in the C. Milton Wright Duals by having prefect 7-0 individual records. David Reagan and Grant Fleming were each 6-1 at the C. Milton Wright Duals, while Cameron Watts finished 5-1 and Brady Stafford finished 5-2.

The Bobcats next match is Friday, January 11th at home against Atholton High School.
