Late Game Heroics Lead Boys’ Basketball to Win Against Patterson Mill

Bel Air Boys Basketball picked up a clutch win over cross-town rival Patterson Mill Wednesday night, topping the Huskies by a score of 51-48. The Bobcats tallied their first win of this season, standing them currently with a record of 1-2.

The Bobcats kept a steady lead over Patterson Mill for the majority of the game, leading after each quarter. Patterson Mill came back late in the 4th Quarter to take a 48-47 lead with under 2 minutes remaining.

But the Bobcats would not be bested in this contest.

Junior Tommy Keller knocked down a jumper to put the Bobcats back on top 49-48, and would also drain 2 free throws with 2.9 seconds remaining to cushion the lead. The Bobcats clung to their 3 point lead down until the final buzzer, and came out on top as Patterson Mill could not answer.

Tommy Keller finished with 14 points, and 8 rebounds, and Junior Calvin Fleagle also added 9 points and 5 assist of his own.

Following the big win, Senior Parker Jones was very excited on beating Patterson Mill. Parker had this to say following the game: “This was the greatest game I’ve ever played in. This is the first time Bel Air has beaten Patterson Mill in basketball, so this was a big deal for us. Shout out to Tommy Keller for that big shot at the end.”
