Girls’ Soccer Recap

The Bel Air Girls’ Varsity Soccer team beat Severna Park 1-0 in their fifth consecutive away game. The Bobcats took the lead in the first half on a goal from sophomore Kayla Klock and an assist by sophomore Shannon Williams.

 The Bobcats never looked back from there. Bobcat goalie junior Karlie Scherba shut down the Severna Park offense with seven saves, earning the Bobcats their third win of the season, all of which are shutouts. Severna Park’s goalie made five saves in the game. The win improves the Bobcats’ record to 3-6 on the year. The Bobcats scored just one goal or less for the seventh time this season in nine total games. Their record in which they score one goal or less is 2-5.

 On Monday October 8th, the girls’ varsity soccer team defeated rival Patterson Mill 2-0. The game was a defensive struggle in the first half, as no goals were scored by either team. The Bobcats finally broke through when junior Natalie Decker scored her first of two goals on the night off an assist from junior Jordan Layfield. Junior goaltender Karlie Scherba had another great outing, shutting out the Huskies on five saves.

 Patterson Mill’s goalie had a total of nine saves. Karlie Scherba has had a shutout in all four of the Bobcats wins this year. With the win the lady Bobcats have won two consecutive games for the first time this year. The win improves their record to 4-6 on the year.
